How to Watch The Durrells Online

This period drama was written for iTV in the UK and was based on an adaption of books written by Gerald Durrell. It follows the years they spent on the sunny Greek island of Corfu.

The first season aired back in 2016, and there were only to ever be 4 seasons of the show. In the UK season, 4 aired earlier this year, and now fans of the show are keen to find out where they can watch the Durrells online.

It can be confusing when you try to locate somewhere to find the show online because it is very limited. For something that was hugely popular, it is pretty scarce.

This guide runs through the show, and what fans can expect from The Durrells season 4, and where they can watch back episodes before the fourth and final season airs on September 29, 2019.

The Durrells in Corfu

The books from which the show is based are real life and not fiction. The trilogy of books were Durrell’s My Family and Other Animals, which was written in 1956, Birds, Beasts and Relatives in 1969 and the last book The Garden of the Gods in 1978.

The task to bring the adaption to screen was handed to Simon Nye. He has had other hits with Men Behaving Badly, Reggie Perrin, Just William, and others.

The fourth series was always going to be the last, but there may be another direction it takes, yet for the Durrell family in Corfu, these days are over.

The iTV drama brings together a great cast and none better than Keeley Hawes as the bubbly Louisa Durrell, the mother who took her four children away from hardship to Corfu.

Keeley has starred in some other great British shows such as Bodyguard, Summer of Rockets, Line of Duty and Upstairs Downstairs among many others.

Milo Parker takes on the role of Gerald in his younger years, and who was responsible for the books and inspiration of the show.

Callum Woodhouse fills the shoes of the older brother Leslie Durrell who has a penchant for firearms, and who finds himself in plenty of bother over the first three seasons.

Anna Savva playing one of the older characters in the tales Lugaretzia has herself seen many big roles over the years.

Minder, Prime Suspect, London’s Burning; Eastenders and Law & Order UK are just some of the top shows.

Alexis Georgoulis plays the determined love interest in the form of Spiros. Miles Jupp brings Cousin Basil to life, and in season four, he has some dubious secrets to hide.

The final series sees the family readying the guesthouse on the island, yet as the final series progresses, the threat of world war increases throughout Europe.

Without giving too many spoilers away, it is time to find out where to watch The Durrells online.

Where to Watch the Durrells Online?

If you search for where to watch the Durrells online, you will not find anywhere. The show was called the Durrells in Corfu for American viewers, and this is what it needs to be called to find the one place where you can watch it online.

Although the show was written for the iTV, it is no longer shown on the UK channel. However, because you need a VPN to access the service where the show is available, we will show how to watch iTV online because the recommended VPN bypasses geo-restrictions to the UK as well as the USA.

Before we see where to find the show, we will look at how a VPN is able to bypass geo-restrictions from anywhere.

How VPN’s Work

VPN’s create tunnels where user data travels after being encrypted. Adding to this, they replace the user IP address with another, this changes depending on the outgoing VPN server.

All streaming services which have these restrictions check for the user IP address.

Because the VPN uses one for the country where the server is, it doesn’t matter where the source connection is from.

A prime example being users in a European country, or further afield such as Australia.

Once a VPN is installed, users can easily change the country to the UK, USA or anywhere else that particular VPN company has servers situated.

A good streaming VPN will have multiple servers in certain countries.

A user can select a UK server, and their IP address will be the same as any other internet user in the UK.

Hence, they can then sign up for any UK based streaming service, and gain access, such as iTV or the BBC iPlayer.

The same process is made to connect to the USA, and for this example, the service where to find the Durrell’s is inside the USA.

Signing up for iTV Hub

Although this great show is no longer on the iTV, it doesn’t mean there won’t be a re-run or a spin-off series. It is handy to see how you can access the iTV Hub using your VPN.

Season Four of The Durrells in Corfu

As of yet, it isn’t possible to watch season four of the show as it hasn’t been released anywhere since ending in the UK. This event will be on 29 September 2019.

Once this happens, it will be aired on PBS. This is one of the last US TV networks that doesn’t have a streaming service.

This channel specifically focuses on classic UK TV such as Jamestown, Downtown Abbey, and of course Durrells.

As a standalone service, you do need a US TV provider to sign in; however, you can sign up with Amazon Prime, and this does cost an extra $5.99 per month, as it is an extra service. While it is PBS, the channel is called ‘Masterpiece.’

To gain the best possible experience to watch this show and many others on Amazon Prime, Masterpiece, or on the iTV, the recommended VPN app is ExpressVPN.

With this provider, you have the best streaming speeds, and well-placed optimized servers to access any streaming services.

The company offers a 30-day money-back guarantee so users can test all the features and functions.

Signing up is easy, and if you do this at the same time as the other free trials, you can binge-watch the Durrells and their escapades in Corfu online and free.
